Before you buy

Use frozen fruit instead of ice

Choice's test found ice cubes jammed the blades while frozen mango blended easily. Frozen fruit gives a cold, thick drink without the jam.

Add liquid first

A portable blender has a small motor. Liquid at the bottom helps the blades move the rest.

Keep a longer USB-C cable handy

Choice found the supplied cable about 40 cm long. Any USB-C cable and charger will do.

Buy on a sale

It lists at $69.99 but sold for $39.99 at Amazon in late October 2026. Black Friday is a good time to look.

Where Ninja kept it simple

The Blast is built to be small and cordless. These are the trade-offs that come with that.

One serving at a time

The cup holds 18 oz. Smoothies for two mean two rounds and a recharge sooner.

Ice is its weak spot

Ninja says it handles ice, but in Choice's test ice cubes jammed the blades until the unit was shaken. Frozen fruit went through without trouble.

Fibrous greens leave bits

Kale left small pieces after several blends in Choice's test. Soft greens like spinach blend more smoothly.

A battery, not a plug

Ninja rates it for up to 15 blends per charge, and a full recharge takes about 2 hours over USB-C. Choice found the supplied cable short at about 40 cm.

Cold only

It is not made for hot soups or warm drinks.

One program

There is one automatic blend program. The Blast Max adds Smoothie and Crush settings.
