Pick the MX Master 3S if you want the same sensor and shape for less. Pick the MX Anywhere 3S if the mouse travels with your laptop. Pick the MX Master 4 if you want haptics, the Actions Ring and the newer materials.

Before you buy

Pick the right edition

The standard model includes a USB-C Logi Bolt receiver. The Mac edition is Bluetooth only.

Check your ports

The receiver is USB-C. On a USB-A-only PC, use Bluetooth or an adapter.

Plan to install Logi Options+

Custom buttons, the Actions Ring and app profiles need it. Check whether your work computer allows it.

Compare with the 3S price

The MX Master 3S was $79.99 at Logitech on October 31, 2026. If you do not need haptics, it does the same core job.

What to know before you buy

The MX Master 4 is an upgrade in feel and controls more than in raw performance. These are the trade-offs.

Same sensor as the 3S

The 8,000 DPI Darkfield sensor and 125 Hz report rate are unchanged from the MX Master 3S, which lists for $20 less.

Not a gaming mouse

125 Hz is low for fast games and high-refresh screens. A gaming mouse fits better if that is your main use.

Haptics shine in a few apps

The Actions Ring and haptic panel do most in supported apps such as Photoshop, Lightroom and Zoom. Elsewhere they act as an extra shortcut button.

Software is needed for the extras

App-specific buttons need Logi Options+. There is no onboard memory, which matters on work computers where you cannot install apps.

Bigger and heavier

At 150 g it is heavier than the 3S. For travel, the MX Anywhere 3S is about 99 g.

Mac edition has no receiver

The Mac version connects over Bluetooth only and comes in different colours.
