Before you buy

Buy film with it

The camera comes without film. An Amazon twin pack of 20 shots was $11.81 when we checked.

Compare bundle prices

Amazon bundles with film, a case and an album ran $139.95 to $159.95. Add up the camera and film prices before you pay for extras.

Keep spare AAs

It runs on two AA batteries. Alkaline or NiMH AAs both work, but do not mix them.

Shoot close in dim rooms

The flash reaches about 2.2 m, so move closer for indoor group shots.

What an analog instant camera leaves out

The Mini 13 keeps things simple on purpose. These are the trade-offs buyers run into.

Film is the real cost

The camera ships without film. A 20-shot twin pack was $11.81 on Amazon when we checked, so each print costs about 59 cents.

No manual control

Exposure and flash are automatic. You twist the lens to turn it on and to switch to Close-up Mode, and that is all you set.

Small prints

Pictures are 62 x 46 mm, about credit-card size. For bigger prints you need an instax Wide camera and film.

No digital copy

It is fully analog. Fujifilm's instax UP! app can scan prints into your phone, but the camera stores nothing.

Not much new over the Mini 12

The main additions are the two self-timers, the angle wedge and a new shape. Close-up Mode, auto exposure and the selfie mirror carry over from the Mini 12.
