Where the Ultra falls short

The Ultra is Roku's best-equipped player. These are the limits that come with it.

Ads on the home screen

Paying for the top model does not remove Roku's ad banner on the right of the home screen.

100 Mbps Ethernet

The wired port is 10/100. That is enough for 4K streaming, but slower than the gigabit ports on some rivals.

No headphone jack on the remote

The 2024 remote dropped the jack. Use Bluetooth headphones paired to the box, or the Roku phone app.

No Matter support

Its smart home features lean on Roku's own devices plus HomeKit, Google Home and Alexa, without Matter.

A $50 price rise

Roku raised the list price from $99.99 to $149.99 in July 2026, citing a memory chip shortage. The hardware did not change.

A 2024 model at a 2026 price

The current Ultra launched in September 2024 at $99.99. You now pay more for the same hardware.

Roku Streaming Stick 4K
