Where Shark saved money
The Navigator has been a budget favorite for over a decade. These are the trade-offs that keep it under $200.
A small dust cup
It holds 0.9 quart. In a home with pets, expect to empty it during a single clean.
Thick rugs are hard work
Wirecutter found it struggles on thick carpet and fluffy rugs, even with the suction bleed valve open.
A fixed, low cleaner head
There is no height adjustment, so bigger debris like cereal gets pushed instead of picked up.
A narrow warranty
Wirecutter reports the five-year warranty covers the motor only. A failed brushroll is on you.
Loud, and corded
It is noisy, and it has a 25 ft cord with no automatic rewind.
