The locking lid is the reason to pick the Sway. These are the trade-offs that come with it.
The cup is hand wash only
Owala and its retailers list only the lid as dishwasher safe. Plan to wash the steel cup by hand.
A cold rating, not an ice rating
Owala claims 24 hours cold. It gives no separate figure for how long ice lasts.
Its own straw only
The straw is built into the FreeSip lid. Owala says other straws may not fit.
Tall at 40 oz
The 40 oz is 11.62 in tall. Check the space under your faucet or fridge dispenser.
No hot-drink rating
Owala's page talks about cold drinks only. If you want hot coffee, look at a mug made for it.
