Where Microsoft kept it simple

AA batteries, not a built-in battery

It runs on two AAs for up to 40 hours. The Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable kit costs $24.99 and charges in under 4 hours.

No motion controls

There is no gyro, so aiming is stick-only.

No back paddles or swappable parts

For extra buttons and adjustable tension you need an Elite controller, which costs more than twice as much.

Color costs extra

Carbon Black is $64.99. Other standard colors are $69.99, and special editions start at $79.99.

Cable not always included for PC remapping

Microsoft lists the USB-C cable for the Windows app as sold separately.
